Students: from Universität station it's 14 minutes
Living in a hall of residence and all the machines are taken again? From the Universität S-Bahn station the S1 or S3 gets you to Schwabstraße in 6 minutes, about 14 minutes door to door. Split two weeks of laundry across several machines and you're done in a little over an hour, drying included.
S-Bahn or Stadtbahn
From Vaihingen station three S-Bahn lines head into town, together roughly every 5 minutes during the day, so West is the obvious choice. If you live closer to a Stadtbahn stop, the U14 runs every 10 minutes via Marienplatz to Österreichischer Platz, a 9-minute walk from the Mitte laundromat. By car both are about 14 minutes away without traffic.
