West or east: which one is closer?
The two are about 2.7 km apart as the crow flies, across the city centre. Rule of thumb: west of the Marktplatz, Sophienstraße is usually quicker; east of it, or if you study at KIT, head to Ludwig-Wilhelm-Straße.

Between the Weststadt and the city centre. The nearest stops, Mühlburger Tor and Arbeitsagentur, are both about a 10-minute walk away, which also makes it the handy one for Mühlburg. Open Mon–Sat 6 am to 11 pm.
Karlsruhe-Oststadt, Ludwig-Wilhelm-Straße 20
In the Oststadt, a few minutes' walk from Durlacher Tor and KIT Campus Süd. The Gottesauer Platz/BGV stop, served by tram 1 and several S-Bahn lines including those from Durlach, is about 5 minutes away. Open Mon–Sat 6 am to 11 pm.
Is there a laundromat open on Sunday in Karlsruhe?
Not at Wash&Go: both laundromats are closed on Sundays and public holidays, as Baden-Württemberg law requires. Saturday hours are the usual 6 am to 11 pm.
