Durlach station is served by tram 1 and the S4, S5 and S51 light-rail lines, so during the day something leaves for the city every few minutes. Get off at Gottesauer Platz/BGV and walk about 300 metres to Ludwig-Wilhelm-Straße. The Durlacher Tor/KIT-Campus Süd stop is only a few minutes' walk away as well, handy if you're coming from the university.
From the old town or the Turmberg area, the KVV journey planner suggested a bus (lines 21, 24 or 31) to Durlach station first when we checked, then the train, about 21 to 26 minutes in total. It's worth a quick look in the KVV app for the best connection on the day. By car you'll be in the Oststadt in around 8 minutes without traffic.
The second Karlsruhe laundromat on Sophienstraße is on the far side of the city centre. From Durlach it mainly makes sense if you're in the west of town anyway. Hours and prices are the same.
